Seller Terms
Last updated: June 2026
1. Scope
These terms cover the economics of selling premium blueprints on SpecZip. They supplement the Terms of Service, which remain in full force. If anything here conflicts with the main terms, these seller terms govern the financial relationship between you and SpecZip.
2. Revenue Split
SpecZip keeps a 30% platform fee on each premium blueprint sale. You keep 70% of the sale price.
The split is calculated on the gross sale price the buyer pays at checkout, rounded down to the nearest cent. For example, on a $10.00 sale you earn $7.00 and SpecZip records $3.00. Each sale and its exact split are recorded permanently in your earnings ledger, which you can view in your dashboard.
There are no additional listing fees, monthly charges, or hidden deductions beyond the 30% platform fee.
3. Payment Processing Fees
Stripe payment processing fees on sales are paid by SpecZip, out of the 30% platform share. Your 70% share is calculated from the full sale price before processing costs — processing fees are never deducted from your earnings. Likewise, the cost of the Stripe transfer that pays you out is borne by SpecZip.
Stripe Connect accounts used to receive payouts may have their own bank-side or currency-conversion charges applied by Stripe or your bank. Those are between you and Stripe, not SpecZip.
4. Getting Paid (Payout Mechanics)
SpecZip does not pay out automatically on a fixed schedule. Instead, you request a payout whenever you want one:
- Connect Stripe. Complete Stripe Connect onboarding from your dashboard. Payouts require a verified connected account with payouts enabled.
- Request a payout. From the Payouts page in your dashboard, request any amount up to your available balance. The minimum payout is $50.00.
- We transfer immediately. When you request a payout, a transfer to your connected account is initiated right away, tagged with your payout record. From there, the money lands in your bank account according to your own Stripe payout schedule (typically within a few business days, depending on Stripe's settings for your account and country).
Your available balance equals your lifetime earnings minus every payout request that is processing or completed. Each payout request moves through the statuses processing → completed — the moment the transfer to your Stripe account succeeds, the payout is recorded as completed — or failed if the transfer could not be completed (for example, if your Stripe account is not set up to receive payouts). Failed transfers return the amount to your available balance.
Mechanics note: the 70/30 split is recorded in a per-sale ledger entry at the time of sale, and payouts are Stripe transfersfrom SpecZip's account to yours — the split itself is enforced by our ledger, not by Stripe at charge time. Every sale, refund, and dispute is recorded as an audit entry alongside the ledger.
All amounts are in US dollars (USD). SpecZip does not withhold taxes from payouts; you are responsible for your own tax obligations.
5. Refunds for Digital Goods
Blueprints are digital goods delivered immediately at purchase, so all sales are final and purchases are generally non-refundable.
If a buyer has a genuine problem — for example, a blueprint that does not match its description — they can contact us and we will review the request case by case. If SpecZip grants a refund, SpecZip issues it from the platform's side: your already-recorded 70% share is not reversed or clawed back from your balance. In other words, when a refund happens, SpecZip absorbs the refunded creator share.
Chargebacks initiated through a buyer's card issuer are handled between the buyer, the card network, and SpecZip. SpecZip may temporarily hold payouts to an affected creator's account while a chargeback dispute is investigated.
6. Changes to These Terms
We may update these seller terms as the payout system evolves. Material changes to the economics (split percentage, minimum payout, or refund policy) will not apply retroactively to earnings already recorded. The current version is always available at this page.
